My parents (and half of El Paso) did an incredible job taking care of our cub. So incredible in fact, that Jackson did not want ANYTHING to do with his momma or dada upon our arrival. My mom says he didn't appreciate being left behind and for such a long amount of time. I don't blame him, but it did break my heart when he didn't want to hug me.
After a few hours of persuasion though, the boy came around and was soon jumping on us, wrestling with us and saying, 'momma and dada' like usual. Phew! I thought I would be begging for forgiveness for weeks the way he was treating us!
The rest of our Memorial weekend was smooth sailing after our initial meeting and we decided to celebrate by going out on the lake with the cub.
Not only did he show off some pretty impressive swimming skills; he also showed us all of the new words he learned while in El Paso. The boy is now using words like; Gigi, Tio (uncle), Tia (aunt), doggy, pato (duck), gracias (thank you), Bibi (my brother) & baby/bebe. In addition to the ones he already knew. I don't mean to brag, (well yes actually I do...) but this kid can TALK. It's going to get him into a world of trouble down the line because he really never stops talking, but for now it's cracking us up.
Thank you eternally Mami y Papi for watching Jackson. We now know for certain that while we enjoyed our time away, we will never spend so much time away from our little cub since I don't think he'll forgive us next time and we missed him WAY too much anyways.
