Zapatos

We have a problem. By we, I mean Jackson. He has always had a bit of a shoe fetish (wonder where he gets that from?!) and most recently his drawers were getting out of control.

Being the OCD queen that I am, I HAD to fix this problem FAST and so I pulled out all the culprits in question and stored them nicely and neatly (by color, size and style of course) in designated 'shoe holding containers'. Little did I realize however just how many zapatos this cub has!
It's kind of obscene! I mean, I don't really think so because if you think this is bad you should see...well...we won't even go there. Honestly though, for a 20 month old this is a lot. Also, these shoes are the ones in current circulation. I'm not even counting the 'too big' or 'too small' zapatos.

Even at school the other day his teacher told me he froze on the playground and refused to walk on the white stones because he didn't want his shoes to get dirty. He kept telling her 'zapatos, sucios' 'zapatos, sucios' (shoes, dirty) and WOULD NOT move. Eventually she had to go pick him up and carry him all the way back to the classroom! Hilarious/sad.
So needless to say this boy loves his zapatos. Like momma, like son--and really, can you blame us?

Enter the Dragon

I bought these pajamas for Jackson in Chinatown while in San Francisco. Jack and I get a kick out of seeing him in them and he seems to enjoy wearing them...

He must have an inner Bruce Lee this one.

School is Cool

Jackson's first week of school has been a great success! As previously stated, I was worried how he would truly react once we left the building but his teachers assure me things have been really good, he plays very well by himself and with others and there is only minimal crying. He is easily distract able--so they don't really have an issue making him happy again when he does cry.

I wish I had more/better pictures to show y'all but his teachers are very adamant about dropping the kids off and leaving right away. I also want to excuse his dress (he usually dresses nicer that this, but the kids paint everyday so this is 'meh' clothes that I usually only keep him in at home. Don't judge--especially you mom).
Ok. Getting over the clothes...So, our morning school routine is quite quick as Jackson has to be checked in no later than 9am. The cub has been waking up at 7:30 every morning drinking his milk, eating his breakfast, dressing quickly and rushing out the door by 8:30.

Throughout the morning Jack and I have started chanting 'School is Cool!!!!' so Jackson now loves saying 'school cool' or 'cool school'. I'd like to think its helped with easing him in to the learning process.

And really, school has been the coolest for yours truly. Not only have I been able to get SOOOOOO much done around here, my sweet boy has been NAPPING! If you've hung out with me recently you'll have heard that Jackson was on a napping/sleeping strike that started when he was 18 months old and continued until about a week ago.

He was forgoing napping (completely...like no naps...none) and was only sleeping about 8-9 hours a night and fighting us every.step.of.the.way.
Waking up daily at 5:30 in the morning and going until 9pm every night was slowly killing us. So for him to not only nap, but nap hard--like fall asleep in the middle of the living room floor and IN HIS HIGH CHAIR at school! has been a miracle. His teacher sent me this via text:
He has never done either by the way. Ever. This kid has only ever fallen asleep in his crib or car seat so this is unheard of, but very welcome. He has also gone back to sleeping his usual 12 hrs so I don't look like a zombie anymore and if I didn't completely scare you off, I promise to not bite your head off this time if/when you call ;).

So in a nutshell: SCHOOL IS COOL!!!

San Francisco

We spent our Labor Day weekend in the lovely city by the bay. It was FANTASTIC to get out of this heat and actually wear jackets AND boots!
Jackson got to see all of the beautiful sights the city has to offer....

And even see a neat prison by the name of Alcatraz. Maybe you've heard of it? ;)
Here he is saying 'hola piedra!' (aka 'The Rock')
And here I am in solitary confinement (literally) trying my hardest to make him fall asleep after he threw multiple fits in his stroller. Jack tells me the audio tour was riveting and I really missed out. Thanks doll.
Apparently I was going about the nap thing all wrong. Our cub only takes naps in tour buses. No. Really. If you have any historical questions about San Francisco, Jack and I are now experts!
We celebrated napping success at dinner with strong drinks--water for the boy and a 'Barbarella' for yours truly (in case you were wondering). Salud!
We surprised Jackson at dinner with his friend, Samaya (and her parents of course). They happened to be in San Francisco at the same time we were and even stayed at our same hotel! The boy was sooooo happy to see her...
They had such a great time together that we took them to Golden Gate Park the next day and they played together all morning long.

I'm fairly certain this kid LOVED San Francisco. From the taxis, to the boats, to the trolleys--our boy had a great time and most definitely left his heart in San Francisco.
